March 2022

Hunting Emma (2017) — Another cute blonde kills allll the men survival/revenge story.  I definitely have a type.

One Shot (2021) — Non-stop action as SEALS protect a prisoner they don’t really want to protect.  Starring the criminally underknown Scott Adkins.

Ravage aka Swing Low (2019) — Recovers from an iffy start to be a fine cute blonde kills allll the men survival/revenge story.

X (2022) — A.

Fresh (2022) — Fine Hulu horror joint by a first time director.  People, can it really be that hard?  Do directors get worse as they get more experience?  See Krasinski, Peele, Laughton, this guy . . .

P2 (2007) — PU.  That’s a cheap shot at a decent cheapo survival thriller set in a parking garage.

Deep Water (2022) — Ben Affleck on the wrong side of the camera again.

Meander (2020) — In the appropriately slim genre of a woman in very tight spaces who must crawl or die, I have to narrowly go with Crawl or Die.

Premium Rush (2012) — Fun chase movie on bikes.  A great, original idea.  It took Hollywood 100 years to think of it.

Eden Lake (2008) — Great survival thriller with the overrated android from Prometheus and the overrated daughter from Yellowstone.

Shallow  Hal (2001) — Pointed critique of lookism in America or exploitative othering of the obese — you be the judge.  Well-crafted and insanely funny — I be the judge.

Pam & Tommy (2022) — Casting and performances are excellent.  Despite his despicable act in the series, the first time I have ever not hated Seth Rogan.

Edward Scissorhands (1990) — Transcends the egregious miscasting of Winona Ryder and Anthony Michael Hall to be amazing.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) — The critics who gave this less than a B+ are pretentious dicks.

West Side Story (2022) — The new Maria is no Natalie Wood.  That is true of every actor in the new cast — none of them are Natalie Wood.  This entirely unnecessary remake is Spielberg’s best work in decades.
